ABOUT US?
The Julie Magny Foundation is a non-profit organization. Whose main objective is to defend the rights of adolescent single mothers to education, to a dignified life while building an independent and better future for themselves, their child (their children).
HISTORICAL ORIGIN

How can we talk about the historical origin of the Julie Magny Foundation, without talking about the woman whose name the Foundation bears? Julie Magny’s life story is our main motivation for founding this entity, despite being a mother in adulthood. Over the years and through life’s difficulties, she has become a single mother of 4 children. With the aim of preparing a better future for them. Even on her deathbed, despite her inability to utter a word; you could read the concern in her eyes. That of leaving her children for whom she so much fought in an uncertain world without the love and support of a mother. Unfortunately, she passed away without the opportunity to see her children today become good men and women, she was unable to hug her grandchildren or make her contribution to her success.

Second, as we grew older, each of us may have noticed that one or more family members took full care of one or more children. In a society where moral values and a sense of responsibility have disappeared. It is more than clear that for all families, being a single mother has become normal and acceptable. As well as, over time; The families, instead of being a support and protection in cases of pre-causal pregnancy, are the first to close the doors to the problematic adolescent. Letting them fend for themselves without support or resources, exposing them to all kinds of abuses such as: trafficking of all kinds, sexual abuse, dependence on others, lack of education and above all in the most absolute misery.

From our own experience we know how difficult it is to see your child sleep without being able to eat bread, spend a day wondering where to spend the night. Or what the next day will be like. Being heartbroken to see another child come to school and yours does not.

All of this motivated us to help young people, to understand the importance of education, to educate the community to see the impact of the warmth of a home and the love of a family. And above all to society to eradicate those homelands and customs that make us regress as human beings.

GEOGRAPHICAL CONTEXT

This project is designed to be applied as a ´´PILOT PLAN´´ in the geographical context of the city of Santiago de los Caballeros (Dominican Republic), as well as in Port-au-Prince (Haiti) or any other city of the mentioned countries.

Santiago de los Caballeros has been chosen as the main geographical point where this essential project will be applied in the Dominican Republic, as a city near Quanaminte (Haiti) and as the heart of the country, it is where the greatest problem of the Dominican and Haitian population is found.

Over time, internal migration has brought many families to the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, in search of a better life. Both habit and bad influence provoke many families in case of having a pregnant teenager, instead of helping her to get ahead or learn to become independent. They are left to their own devices, expelling them from the family home. It is one of the causes that Santiago is the city with the most cases of child pregnancies, misery, children stranded on the streets, insecurity, etc.

The main office is located at ………… (we do not have the location and address yet) …… ..

PROBLEMATIC

A- Internal migratory movements: what has brought as a consequence, demographic increase, urban congestion, poverty.
B- External migratory movements: for economic and natural reasons, as was the case of the earthquake in Haiti. Teen single mothers or single expectant mothers are forced to find the best way to survive with their children. Many of them, desperate, cross the border without help or resources in the hope of a better future. To later be deported, leaving their children in the hands of strangers, homeless and exposed to crime. In another case, pregnant with other perpetrators who often promise false improvements.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MOST VULNERABLE POPULATION
1- They are between 14 and 19 years old or more.
2- Most of them live with friends or acquaintances after being rejected from the family home.
3- 85% are forced to sell their bodies or agree to give their sexual services for money and others are forced to accept a relationship to have a roof and food to survive with their child.
4- Some prefer to get rid of the baby, although their Lives are uncertain.
